Healthcare organization CuraMare is the largest employer and the largest energy consumer in Goeree-Overflakkee. Aad Grootenboer is responsible for purchasing for the entire organization: from the Van Weel-Bethesda Hospital to the four nursing homes, the home care organization and the eleven residential care complexes. “I think you should leave energy purchasing to experts”
Additional concerns
Until 2017, CuraMare was part of another energy purchasing collective. Grootenboer: “There are many suppliers who want to take the burden off you, and instead, you’re left with worries. We felt quite lost there. It was all a ‘decide today’ thing, and if I wanted to talk about an issue over the phone, I immediately had to pay a consultant.”
